Music Education

Daniel Bain is a clarinetist and pianist from Houston, Texas, and a senior at Michael E. DeBakey High School for Health Professions. He studies clarinet with Sam Boutris and Chester Rowell, and maintains an active schedule of solo, chamber, and orchestral performances. As a member of the Houston Youth Symphony’s Symphony Orchestra, he has performed major works including Daphnis et Chloé, The Rite of Spring, and selections from West Side Story, gaining experience across a wide range of repertoire. Additionally, Daniel has served as principal clarinetist of the ROCO Symphony.

Daniel also has performed the Mozart Clarinet Concerto as a soloist with both the Symphony North of Houston and the AFA Symphony Orchestra. At the Texas UIL State Solo & Ensemble Contest, he was named an Outstanding Performer, a distinction awarded to a small percentage of musicians across the state. In chamber music, Daniel has played both the Mozart and Brahms Clarinet Quintets on several occasions in and out of school.

His interests lie especially in the Classical and Romantic repertoire, with a particular connection to the music of Brahms, Tchaikovsky, and Mozart. Alongside music, Daniel pursues a rigorous academic path and hopes to continue exploring the intersection of the arts and medicine in his future studies.

Beyond his own performance, Daniel is the founder of GrooveCraft®, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that provides free online music lessons and resources to students nationwide. Through GrooveCraft®, he seeks to expand access to quality music education and support young musicians in their development, particularly during times when in-person lessons may not be accessible. This commitment to outreach and education complements his belief in music’s power to connect and inspire. Whether through GrooveCraft® or volunteer performances in community settings, Daniel is dedicated to using music as a means of service and personal growth.

As he continues his musical and academic journey, Daniel remains focused on deepening his artistry and making a positive impact through both his music and his broader contributions.
